What’s happening in this Kindergarten Cop movie clip?
Kimble (Arnold Schwarzenegger from Terminator and Junior) discovers marks on a kid's back, and the young boy says he fell in the stairs. Kimble gets out and confronts the mother, who also tells him that the boy fell in the stairs. Kimble, suspecting child abuse, rushes to confront the father, assaults him and threatens him, ordering him not to hurt the child again. Later, in Miss Schlowski's (Linda Hunt) office, he apologizes. She reveals to him that she knows he never had any teaching experience. However, she congratulates him about the work he has done and asks him if it felt good to punch the father of the boy.

What’s the movie Kindergarten Cop about?
After apprehending drug dealer Cullen Crisp (Richard Tyson), Detective John Kimble (Arnold Schwarzenegger from Terminator and Junior) and his new partner Phoebe O'Hara (Pamela Reed from Bean) are sent on a mission to Astoria, Oregon. They must find Cullen's ex-wife Rachel (Penelope Ann Miller from Carlito's Way) and their child, so that she can testify against her former husband. While Phoebe has to go undercover at the elementary school, she falls ill and Kimble fills in at a moment's notice to manage the kindergarten class. The inspector's nightmare is just beginning...

  • I remember my mother once asked me a question similar to what the principal asks @2:16. I was a wrestler in high school. She asked what is it like when you win a match by pinning your opponent? "What does it feel like to overpower, humiliate and humble someone like that?" Was her exact question. I told her I never really thought of it that way because you are often nervous and amped up before a match to think of it that way. Just like any other sport. You want to win.

    • You misunderstood the scene. Teachers are mandated to report child abuse to the police and Child Protection, when they have reasonable belief to suspect it. Kimble is an undercover police officer, so has the training to identify signs of child abuse: the marks on the kid's neck and back, how he squirmed, the rehearsed excuses pushed on him by his mother, as well as the mother covering for the husband, which may have roots in deeper domestic violence. He let his primary instincts get the better of him and almost blew his cover, which was investigating the whereabouts of Crisp's ex-wife Rachael (calling herself "Joyce", and working as a teacher in a nearby classroom). Principal Miss Schlowski already knows that Kimble is a cop (it's her job to know), but only just found out from her checking that he had no teaching experience. He already has authority to work with children, so is legally permitted to be in her school. However, she was impressed by what Kimble had done at the school, and therefore commended him. Plus I suspect that she was mounting a case to have charges laid against the boy's abusive father anyway, but Kimble brought the evidence to the surface. In the present time, schools either have an in-house police officer on duty, or an "Adopt-A-Cop" programme, or a visiting police officer who looks out for these things.

I admit I would do the same thing but I don't because I may have scarce power in any sense to "get away with it" plus burocratic bookworms....they just parrots of & those who do have power don't use it...cowards !!!!!!!!! reason victims are afraid is because too much power behind abuser if ever they decide to get abuser into trouble, abuser "knows his rights" & to cover his tracks & even "prove" victim to be antagonist, etc. & to what ears to say it to.....

My family was no picnic and my mom was the abusive one. I was well into my 30s before I began to see how accountable my father is. Dealing out abuse is no worse than watching it happen and pretending you’re helpless.
