  • Graphics cards are so hard to get.... yet you get one... fry it... and then get another one... while people out here having to get out on that street corner just to pay 5x what they're worth or waiting 2 or 3 months for an si to ship a pre-built...

  • Ironically, this is why I'm terrified to built a PC myself. I did it once a long time ago can not even remember, it was my 2nd gaming PC currently on my 4th and planning a 5th. Been at this since like 2004. But I hated that experience. I honestly will pay a few hundred more on a machine rather than risk ruining thousands spent on it already, being it wasn't a failure of the hardware but a user mistake, I doubt they're covered by warrantees either. I don't mind spending more for a Pre-Built because of this. I hate replacing/taking out, moving components in a PC, it's part of maintenance and cleaning but still, definitely for how tight the tolerances are sometimes, specially Memory and GPUs. Goes back to when my friend added RAM to his PC and placed it in upside down, ya back then you could do that, some lunatic thought it was a good idea to make memory sticks the same number of pins top and bottom. Well he fried his PC. I know things have gotten a lot easier, definitely with Windows 10 pretty much making installing drivers idiot proof if you have internet connection. But it really just takes that one mistake. Which means they're still not idiot proof enough. lol

  • Sorry for being so rude but people are struggling to get 30 series cards and this idiot is frying them and asking for a new free one, just to build a pc for some guy who plays generic metal music. WTF. Kyle should have paid for that GPU, $350 shouldn't be a problem for him. Is his friend at least going to pay for it?, or that's a free PC?. I hope his friend is paying for that PC and Kyle should pay for that damaged GPU. I'm very concerned watching a guy fucking around with expensive PC components in the middle of a economic and supply crisis just so he and his friend can give each other a pat on the back. Sorry but this just feels wrong.

  • Recently I tore apart my mobo's PCI slot and also burned one of my PSU CPU cables. The mobo was useless, unless I had an APU, and I'm still thinking if I should try to get it fixed. I bought a new one. The PSU still worked for about 4 months or so, but then it failed, so I bought a new one as well. My wallet was crying after all of this, but I'm still grateful I didn't break my GPU, and it's just an old RX 470 but it is still amazing and I can't buy anything as good for the same price for which I got it right now.

  • In all honesty, the 24 pin connector should not be able to be plugged in incorrectly in the first place. The 24 pin connection was originally designed to prevent exactly this and the reason why the shape of the individual connections is different. The fact that it can happen at all indicates a flaw in one side of the connection or the other (?overly flexible plastic on the connectors?).

  • Holy fuck, the number of you crying about Kyle bricking some parts. it's perk of the job. you could do it too if you wanted. Most of these guys started out small and worked hard for years and years to get to the point they're at, and building the relationships with the vendors. It's like y'all's thinking goes haywire when it comes to the PC Industry, because it's your hobby you totally forget that it's his job. It saves these companies hundreds of thousands of dollars in marketing costs to have these influencers showing off their products. A GPU here a CPU there, is absolutely nothing to these companies, and the amount of hardware sent out to influencers don't even make up .01 percent of the .01 percent, as we've found out from manufactoring these things are being made in the hundreds of thousands, but say in the example of AMD, they're splitting those chips between SOCs for their own line of processors, but also supplying the SOC for Xbox and Playstation. You're all just mad that you don't have his job, or are too lazy to make it on your own. I don't want to hear bullshit excuses about how you have a mortgage and kids and a car payment, you chose to buy a house, you chose to stick your dick in whatever receptacle desperate enough to put up with ya'll. If you can't afford the prices right now, use a streaming service, Geforce now is only 9.99, (4.99 if you supported them from the beginning.) or Google Stadia. I was able to buy a 5900x right off amazon on the 2nd. I spent a little more than 100 dollars over MSRP, justifiable, supply being low and demand being high. If ya'll want free GPUs and CPUs start a youtube channel, use your iphone camera, and start making content. Over time you'll form these relationships, in which you too can get some kickbacks, because you're operating as basically free marketing for these companies saving them hundreds of thousands of dollars.
