Genesis (Hyundai,Kia) have come a long way. I mean it when I say they rival German and European gasoline cars as of 2021 right now. They could falter in the future because we're beginning an EV transitional stage, but if all you care about is bang for the buck, Genesis Kia and Hyundai (in that order imo) are very good choices.

Perhaps they fixed it on the G80 but I test drove a G70 and I felt the chassis didn't deliver that solid seat in your pants feel you get from the German cars. Without that everything else is window dressing.
I find it hard to believe that either one of you would pay $60k usd for the car over a BMW 540i at the same price.
a bmw 540i is much more expensive when you get equivalent options and if you do price match them then the bmw has less tech and luxury features than this so its a bargain for the same luxury

Tried taking one for a spin last year -- OMG, what a boring, awful, dead driving, POS land yacht. The second I got it off the lot, I drove it back. This car is for dead people. Even a Volvo would be more entertaining to drive, maybe okay for zombies.

@QCM the problem with that is if you pay the same money for a Mercedes or a bmw that’s equivalent to the g80 which is the 5 series and e class, they would have barely any option packages and would be under equipped compared to the genesis which means you would have to pay A lot more to get all that luxury, that’s the biggest advantage genesis has they are insanely cheaper in cost to the competition

Looks pretty nice and certainly better that a lot of modern merc's but it's when you see it together, for example with the A6, in real life the "imitation" become very apparent unfortunatly..

Hyundai is on track. I heard about the Genesis back in the first release, and took note it had more HP and competitive luxury of Lexus, etc., for about $25k less. I’ve dumped Toyota and Honda. Although, we own a Sonata, and a Elantra, my heart is in the Veloster N that my son just got. More fun, more performance, for a lot less $. If I win the lotto, I’ll buy a Genesis.

The vid is great. I really like the Top Gear Lite approach. I'm less excited about the car. I'm sure it's great, but I notice how their knees are jammed up against the dash, and how you can barely see their heads above the dashboard when the camera is standing outside. Mind you, this is no small car. In fact, it's gigantic compared to cars even 20 years ago. Yet unlike those older cars, the occupants of this new car can hardly move inside it. That's when I remember why I keep a yard full of 30 year old cars.

I went to inquire about a Lease for a 3.5t Prestige model last month in Orange County CA and I was quoted 13K drive off and 694.69 a month with a 495.00 disposition fee for a 7500 mi a year Lease. That adds up to $37,764.15 for 36 months or $1049.00 a month or a $1.67 a mile if you use all the miles in the contract. I drove it and really liked it, but just not enough to part ways with $1049 a month. What do you think?

Your concern with the two wheels on the inside of the car is exactly why experts in Human Factors are really important in Inudustrial Design. One specific example (thought to have started the field) was when people realized the reason for many crash landings were because the switch for the flaps and the landing gear were near each other and felt the same. The pilots would accidentally retract the landing gear while landing, resulting in a crash. Aesthetics and functionality need to be symbiotic, especially in a deadly machine.

The new G80 is an amazing car. I’ve driven all versions of it and they sell before they even hit the lot. The tech, feel and look of the car is stunning in person. Even the base 2.5 G80 is a lot of car for the money.
